Outcomes Focused Teams
In line with the NZ Government's initiative of Managing for Outcomes, Public Health South's strategic planning identified five high level outcomes. These outcomes will be achieved by focusing our planning, delivery and performance on a "vital few" key areas of improvement. These priorities are aligned with the strategic plans of Otago and Southland DHBs, and with health sector priorities for our priority population groups as shown below.
Our Priority population Groups
|
Children, youth and families |
Maori, Pacific and people in deprivation deciles 7 to 10 |
Rural communities |
Our "Vital Few" Outcomes
|

Reduced impact/incidence of harm from alcohol and other drugs |
Reduced impact/incidence of smoking related disease |
Reduce impact/incidence of communicable disease |
Safer and healthier social and physical environments |
PHS Service Delivery Teams and Intermediate Outcomes
Public health staff have been structured into three teams. Each team has a programme of work with outcomes that can be achieved in the short to medium term, that will contribute to the long term outcomes.
